Panel Discussion: Enhanced Viewing and Experiential Experiences to Wow and Capture the Cinema Audiences
To entice audiences back to theatres and maintain a competitive edge, cinemas have focused on offering unique and immersive experiences that cannot be replicated at home. These include but are not limited to advancements in 3D, 4D, IMAX technologies, Dolby Cinema, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos as well as premium large-format screens, luxury seating, and enhanced sound systems, dine-in options, themed environments, and virtual reality experiences.
Advancements in technology are also being leveraged to enhance the movie-watching experience. For example, some theatres are experimenting with high-frame rate (HFR) projections or high-dynamic range (HDR), which offer smoother and more lifelike visuals. Additionally, there's a growing interest in augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) experiences within the cinema setting, and adaptation of more interactive and immersive experiences.
This panel discussion will review some of the most successful cinema experience enhancements tools and strategies.

Market Trends
Cinema revenues are expected to grow from $900 million in 2024 to $1.5 billion by 2029. It is anticipated that the UAE will continue to set the benchmark for premium exhibition experiences, including luxury cinemas and advanced projection technologies.
Opportunity for Solution Providers:
Strong demand for cinema construction, digital exhibition technology, audience engagement platforms, and content distribution.
Over $933 million has been invested in cinema infrastructure and technology. Revenues could rise from $584 million (2024) to $950 million by 2030, with plans to expand screens beyond 2,500 and up to 50 IMAX screens. Saudi Arabia will remain the main engine of exhibition growth because of continued screen expansion and strong government support through Vision 2030.
Opportunity for Solution Providers:
Space for architecture, construction, projection and sound tech, and equipment suppliers. Production investments (JAX Studios, AlUla Film Studio, NEOM Studios) also open prospects for studio design, post-production, and training programs.
Argan Studios Film City is set to become Morocco’s first fully integrated audiovisual hub. Covering around 80 hectares, it will host sound stages, post-production facilities, a training campus, hotels, and business centers. The $75M+ project is in planning and early build stages, with the first studio expected by 2027 and full completion by 2030. Streaming giants such as Netflix, Disney, and Prime Video have reportedly expressed interest.
Opportunity for Solution Providers:
This marks a shift in Africa toward comprehensive studio ecosystems, creating opportunities in studio build-outs, soundstage construction, post-production technology, training programs, and affiliated hospitality infrastructure.
Egypt remains the undisputed engine of Arabic language cinema, and since the inception of cinemas in Saudi, its role has evolved from a solo player into a strategic partner that drives the massive expansion of the GCC box office, particularly in Saudi, contributing for approximately 25% + of its box office. And across the rest of Africa, the narrative is shifting toward internal collaboration rather than reliance on Western distribution. We are seeing a surge in Pan-African blockbusters, particularly collaborations between Nigeria and Ghana.
Opportunity for Solution Providers:
The market is moving from fragmented to connected and scalable, resulting in more content, bigger audiences, and faster revenue growth across the region.
Jordan is becoming increasingly relevant within the regional ecosystem. While the Jordanian theatrical market itself is relatively modest, the country has built strong international credibility as a production hub. Through institutions such as the Royal Film Commission, Jordan has attracted major international productions and developed incentives, studio infrastructure, and professional training initiatives that strengthen the wider screen sector.
Opportunity for Solution Providers:
If current industry trends continue, the regional cinema sector could maintain steady growth over the coming decade, supported by young demographics, urban expansion, and continued investment in premium cinema experiences.
